I am 58 these days. My number in the draft was called in 1970 when I turned 18. They were pulling the draft back then to about number 395. My number came up at 15. I knew I was going to Vietnam. When I rode on the bus ride from Orange to Los Angeles with the rest of the guys I admit I was nervous. The thought of joining had crossed my mind but it was only a thought and all of a sudden the draft was staring me in the face. When I got to the eye doc part he looked at my eyes–looked in a big book and then took a stamp out of his drawer and stamped a Big 4F on my paperwork. He said I had dystrophy of the cornea and I wasn’t fit for military service. — So I never had the privilage of serving my country in military service.— I am Proud and consider myself to be Very Lucky to have been born into this world as an American.— God Bless my Mom and Dad who were both WWII veterans–I Miss them Both.—For those of you who did serve, I am saying Thank You. — For those of you who have friends or loved ones who sacrificed their lives I am saying God Bless Them and May They Rest in Peace.

All the way thru the sale I must say I was very impressed with the way Wachovia had One person deal with me as the listing agent/Realtor. From start to finish I couldn’t have been more fortunate to have dealt with a Professional. The offer I received from the other good Realtor I submitted with the hardship letter and all the other documents in one email. They had the appraisal and written approval quickly (14 days). Now they have recovered fair market value $$$ on the money they had loaned out because the sale is now complete.

—I am dealing with another good Realtor in a deal, this time I represent the buyer. This bank is SLOW to respond and it has been since Nov 19th since I submitted the offer (Two Months). Now, they are changing negotiators and I am not sure they actually know exactly what they are doing. My buyer is hanging in there when she could be looking for another home. That is part of what is frustrating about buying a short sale home. It takes commitment to make a fair market value offer and be willing to hang in there because some lenders are SLOW. The sellers Realtor is Calling the Loss Mitigation Dept to make sure they talk to the Foreclosure dept to talk to the Beneficiary to stop the sale date while we are waiting on them to get their act together.

I would rather deal with Wachovia–it is my recent experience that They know how to successfully close a fair market value offer on a short sale in a timely manner.

The Oroville City Council Meeting last nite was well attended by concerned citizens and business people. All of which seemed in Favor of this, since none spoke against it except for 1 council member who rendered a no vote even tho he said he was in favor of the proposal. A Majority of the Council Members approved the 3 resolutions which will lead to a sewer extention across the Thermalito Power Canal at the North end of Table Mountain Blvd.— During the discussions Weldon C. Larson, Senior Partner/Principal at Hignell Development Group, Inc. said his company had already spent $300,000 so far, not including the price of the land they bought, to get this far with the permit process, that has taken years, just to get this far.— With the permit facing expiration in early September unless the groundbreaking actually commenced— It was an important decision that the council members faced.– Looking at Long Term Vision to Promote Growth and Potential for Local Jobs (Probably Clean Green) —Either take a chance and help provide the sewer extension, priming that area for development.— One thing is for sure—If you do not lay the ground work they will not come.— So A Majority of the Council Members Voted in Favor of those Resolutions. —Now the 237 lot subdivision map should get approval.— It is an important decision for our community that our city council is opening the door to promote growth here in Oroville.— Supervisor Bill Connelly, Gary Ott and a Reverend (sorry don’t know his name) spoke in favor of this groundbreaking decision.— Thanx to the Realtors who supported this and attended the meeting. — Promote Growth and Jobs for Oroville.—I think the City Council made the right decision for us all.—
Please stop by our office at 2161 Feather River Blvd, Oroville, across from Applebee’s, and make a donation to the Salvation Army–Mark was kind enough to get a barrel for food items–please bring non-perishables for those people and families who are not as fortunate as we are. Thank You.
In 1970 when I received my draft notice, I was Number #15–they were drawing up to 395 (or so) if I remember right. So I went on the bus with the other young guys to Los Angeles and went thru a barrage of tests to start the indoctrination towards becoming a member of the United States Military. When I got to the eye doc, he carefully looked at my eyes with the bright square light and stopped, opened his big book and said son, you are not going anywhere because you have corneal dystrophy. Then using a Big Red Stamp on my paper, as it went Clunk , when he pulled it away, In Big Red Print—it said 4F. So—I did not go to Vietnam with the others. I remember when some of our vets came home from Nam, the reception they got was less than legendary from some citizens which suked. Whether you thought that war was necessary or not, many young Americans died for their country–God Bless Them. They sacrificed with the ultimate price—Life. Since I was not there I can only imagine what it would have been like to be there. Many friends of mine were there and have told me stories of the horrors of war. The struggles mentally, the after the fact medical problems they suffered because of Agent Orange and other causes—What a frickin nightmare for them. The Good News is—Last Nite while watching the Colbert Report, a young man came on and talked about this web site for Veterans. I urge you to pass this site on to Family, Friends, Vets for Resources, Discounts and Services. Thank You for Serving Our Country and For the Sacrifices You and Your Families Have Endured For All of Us.
